Welcome to the MTC (Monthly Track Contest) for September 2022!
The MTC is a track building contest hosted by TrackmaniaExchange which challenges you to build a map with a specific theme.
There are no prerequisites or qualification requirements to enter, just continue reading the theme below, hop in your editor, and submit a track before the deadline!

:build: Theme: Floor (main surface) is lava (original idea by StupsKiesel)
- The main surface of the Blocks is prohibited as a roadway. Excluding the blocks normally use for scenery such as the 1x1 grass (or any type of surface) and the "mountains" blocks that arent considered as a "roadway". (i.e: In a concrete narrow road only the grass of the block is usable)
- Water (the 1x1 blocks that is stackable) and Stadium Ground grass are not considered as a "main surface" (conversely the water road is considered “lava” if used in his normal way)
- Waypoints must also be used in such a way that the road surface is not touched. (you can use customs CPs for that)
- Custom items are allowed if you keep the theme rules and the “spirit” of using only the offroad parts of them.

(brb) Deadline:
Entries must be submitted to the MTC mappack before 25/09/2022.
Following the deadline, the Host will close the mappack for submissions. At that point, all maps in the mappack are considered valid entries. If you map is sent in less than 24h after the deadline, 5 pts will be retired in the total of the judge points

:award: Prize
- Honor and right to brag!
- The winning track will be featured on the TrackmaniaExchange front page!

:wait: Rules
- One entry is allowed per user. Multi-author maps count as the single entry for all authors involved.
- “MTC” must be present in the track name as it appears on TMX.
- All entries must be built using the latest version of the game.
- All entries must be built specifically for this MTC.
- Blockmixing, Offgrid mapping, and Embedded Items are allowed.
- Texture mods are allowed.
- Royal tracks are not allowed.

:done: Judging System
All entries will be graded by a panel of judges who will be studying each map based on the following criteria:

Theme (20 pts): How well does the track fit the theme? How creatively did you implement the theme’s requirements?
Design/Route (10 pts): Flow, smoothness, layout, speed, transitions, difficulty. The “Feel” of the track.
Details/Polish (10 pts): Signage, Scenery, Mediatracker. Does the track feel like it has the finishing touches?
Fun Factor (10 pts): Is the track fun to the judge? Some extra points can be given here.

Good luck! Please ask any questions in this thread or in discord, otherwise get to building!

if you place a tech road are the barriers considered as lava?

So...if the normal driving surface of a block is the only "lava" part, does that mean you could just flip a block over and drive on the underside, or is that not really embracing the spirit of what's intended?

Another question...when you mention the Stadium ground grass, are you talking about *just* the actual stadium grass (that's already in place) or are you also talking about the (non-driving type of) grass blocks? If the latter, does that same free-use apply to the (non-driving surface) sand and ice from the other environments?

Barriers are not considered as lava ;)

I think everybody will have his way to see things. You can ofcourse use this since its a part of the block that isn't the "road" intended but if you build all your map using only flipped road blocks its clearly not the spirit of the theme.

Yeah i think how i wrote it isnt clear. All type of "offroad" blocks arent considered as "normal road" and aren't lava (sand, grass, ice.. ). I wanted to specify the rule for these two types of "surfaces". But i should do something more general i will try to think about it and update asap.

Hi all. Forgive my ignorance - n00b considering entering for the first time

When you mention custom CPs - is that for the start too? I'll have to explore how to do that! nvm, sorted ...

Also are (e.g.) pipes considered lava?

From the mention of narrow road, I guess you're saying the map can contain bits of road surface so long as the track can be navigated without touching them? Or it have to be completely obstructed (i.e. track cannot be navigated if any road is touched?)?

You don't need to obstruct them but the faster way cannot be by using them ;)

To keep the theme on along the track better use, or even create, a custom. If you put a normal start block its not that much a problem but for sure it cost points, depends on how you do it.
