Hey

This subject came to my mind, I am just wondering why is it that there are not many people around this site, personally I would expect the hype to be bigger with the release of the new game. Perhaps it is the missing feature of uploading records? It is very essential from my perspective, even as a mapper the thing I always look forward to is where people can push the limit of my map without having to check it in-game. Or am I over exaggerating and the activity is fine here?

Any thoughts?

Hey CvRk,

I can't really speak for the activity bit (I don't really have a comparison to what would be a "hype"). However I want to explain briefly why there's no replay upload yet:

We're waiting for Nadeo to finish up their OAuth & (Records) API. Without one of these things, we can't allow users to upload replays to this site, since we can't assure the replay uploader and driver are 100% the same person. We want to avoid that from the start.

That also keeps us from having Uplay login, a Dedimania-like WR table and running MXKarma.

For the replay upload we have an alternative solution ready, which is difficult to code in to say the least. I personally don't have the time in the next two weeks to implement it, so we're most likely waiting this one out and hope Nadeo has something for us at the end of the road.

The release of this game completely flew under my radar, I was reminded of it from my biannual revisit to TMX/MX. I'm not really in contact with anyone from this community anymore. Maybe it's not getting great exposure? Just a guess.

I'm feeling overwhelmed by the amount of games out these days, I can't keep up.

Sorry for the self-indulgent reflections. I just remembered like 10 years ago when the TMX staff went to glorious lengths to troll me on April fools day. They modded me and then created a whole subform with fake posts about me, and it was like Truman Show level stuff. I was honestly doubting my sanity because of it. Before I figured out what was going on they had unmodded me and booted me back onto the streets

Zoomers prefer discords over forums, and talking here alone is boring, so not many of us who prefer forums post too much either :d

Not just Zoomers. I prefer Discord too, and I was born in the early '80s.
But then I always preferred IRC as well, and Discord is just an evolution of IRC.

Forums are a great place to store information, but it's not the best format for conversations.

To be honest, I'm not a big discord fan but I know I'm not in the majority here.

I like dipping in and out of conversations, and being considered and slow in my responses.

Problem with discord is that parallell conversations on different topics are impossible. Great for chatting but any meaningful conversations are bound to be poor...

Agreed. But it is very fun for quick conversations. Using forums for topics like sharing music would be fun :)

Pretty sure that's not true. That's why multiple channels exist. Plus, there's also the reply feature. And since you made your post, threaded conversations are also something that was added. So there's plenty of ways to have parallel conversations.

Regarding activity on the site, I think the site just wasn't known to a lot of new players at first. It took some time for it to become known in the community. Things are doing pretty well now.
