Welcome to the MTC (Monthly Track Contest), the monthly map building competition hosted by TrackmaniaExchange!
This February the theme involves building a track within a tightly constrained space!

Submit Your Entry: MTC Mappack

:build: Theme: Build in a Box
- Build a track route that fits completely inside a 4x4x16 cube.
- Scenery may be built outside the box.
- To clarify the box dimensions:
Length: 4 Horizontal Grid spaces or 128m
Width: 4 Horizontal Grid spaces or 128m
Height: 16 Vertical grid spaces or 128m

(brb) Deadline: Entries must be submitted to the MTC mappack before February 19th @ Midnight.
- Following the deadline, the Host will close the mappack for submissions. At that point, all maps in the mappack are considered valid entries.

:wait: Rules
- One entry is allowed per user. Multi-author maps count as the single entry for all authors involved.
- “MTC” must be present in the track name as it appears on TMX.
- All entries must be built using the latest version of the game.
- All entries must be built specifically for this MTC.
- Press Forward, Left, Right, or similar tracks are not allowed.
- Royal tracks are not allowed.

:build: Prize:
- Honor and right to brag!
- The winning map will be featured on the front page.

:done: Judging System
All entries will be graded by a panel of judges who will be studying each map based on the following criteria:

Theme (20 pts): How well does the track fit the theme? How creatively did you implement the theme’s requirements?
Design/Route (10 pts): Flow, smoothness, layout, speed, surface diversity, transitions, difficulty. The “Feel” of the track.
Details/Polish (10 pts): Signage, Scenery, Mediatracker, etc. Does the track feel like it has the finishing touches?
Fun Factor (10 pts): Is the track fun to the judge? Some extra points can be given here.

Good luck! Please ask any questions in this thread, otherwise get to building!

Does this mean that you only have a 2x2 space to build in?

Ah, the return of my favourite theme! I'll give it a shot for sure. 8-|

You dont have to build edges on your box so you can use the full box size for building (4×4×16).

2×2 sounds like a nice challenge, tho ;). Go for it!

There is a 128 m glass cube on IX to see which space is intended for the route.
Feel free to download and use it as a guide. Maybe it's useful for you.

Hello, great theme, I think people will be very creative!

I have a question, can the car be made to exit the 4*4*16 perimeter for a short time, even if all of the route elements are within the box? I'm thinking through jumps / boosts or any other mean. To be clear, only the car is outside of the box for a few seconds, the rest of the track are inside it.

Thanks! 🎉

Is the deadline an error or is it actually 19/02 instead of 27/02 like I've gotten used to (last sunday of the month)?

According to the rules, you must build inside the box. As long as you are only building route inside the box, I would say the car is allowed to go beyond the bounds.

The deadline is not an error. It is a short month and I chose that date so that I would be able to close the mappack and manage the judging.

Hey, since its not specifically stated in the rules i thought id ask: Are all custom items/blocks/mods allowed for this months contest?

They are allowed!

Polysept says:
When scenery outside the cube touches the route and you could potentially drive over it. I assume thats a no-no? Also if its slower?

The rule which allows building of scenery outside the cube is limited to decoration only. If you drive on it I would consider that now part of the route and no longer decoration.

wood supports
are we aloud to use blocks such as wood support blocks outside the perimeter to use as a wallride or something?
