Hello TrackmaniaExchange!
This is my submission for the MTC July "On the Straight and Narrow".
My original idea was to use the qualities of magnet to bypass the constraint of the width limit, and build a tech track with a large vertical extension.
It didn't work.
The properties of magnet are different enough from tarmac's to influence the steering radius of the car (or maybe it was just gravity's influence), so the turns actually usable for a gear 4 track were very few.
I ended up using almost all of them, connected by some narrow precision parts with weird gravity angles that might be very tricky to tacke. I also placed a patch of snow to prevent a gear, and the nastiest risky finish I could think of.
I'm not really proud of the route.
I did my best to guide the player via scenery, but most of the curves are unintuitive, which is a lot to say if you consider that the path had to be straight.
I even wrote "cam 2-3 recommended" in the sky in front of the start (I don't like forcing cameras, especially camera 2 is the bane of cam3 players).
I really liked building the scenery, though.
I picked all the feedback I could from "British Manor", and I mixed some new glass blocks with some great macroblocks by Ascki, attempting to fill all the spots the player can look at while driving, also trying to provide visual references in some blind-ish sections.
The AT is not really optimized, hunted for 2 hours by a not-really-tech-player.
I hope it can give you some satisfaction!
Good luck have fun!
