Hello everyone!
It's been quite a while since I was last active here, but I'm back to motivate you guys to make more maps!
Introducing Karlberg's Duo Mapping Competition, a "month long" mapping competition where you can show off your mapping skills.
In 2021 I hosted a transitional mapping competition which was a huge success with over 100 submissions, where the community voted to pick out their favorites. (video of all maps can be found here) There were some amazing maps created during that time, which made me want to do another one.
However, this time it will be a bit different. Instead of having a public voting system, there will now be "professional mappers" judging them, giving feedback and rating each map from certain criteria. The maps will also be playable as soon as they are finished, for everyone to enjoy. (instead of having to wait until the end of the competition)
At the end of the month, the top 5 maps will be selected and announced, and the top 25 maps will be featured in a campaign. (which may or may not have a following hunting competition revolved around it)
With that out of the way, here is the theme and rules for this edition: Classics In tmnf, there are a lot of so called "classic maps" which have been hunted by the community for years. Unlike the official campaign, these are user made tracks and are decided to be tagged "classic" based on "track value" on the tmnf exchange website. Most of these maps are often unique, huntable and usually competitive-ish styled maps. This is something which I would like a campaign in the current trackmania to replicate.
To make the competition a little bit more exciting, the competition will be in duo format, so get ahold of your best mapping friend! (or someone completely random to make it a bit exciting, you decide)

Judging criteria:
Originality - Does the map feature original and interesting ideas in such way that it stands out among other maps?
Reliability - Is the route consistent enough to the point where one should not have to pray to get a good run? (this doesn't mean the map cannot be hard, just try to avoid annoyances)
Retention - Would I want to play this map for more than 15 minutes? Is it going to be fun for a long period of time?
Scenery - Is the map attractive? Is it not blocking the view of the driver or any way distracting?
Classic feel - Does the map have the tmnf classic feel to it, even though it is a tm2020 map?
Judges:
A final list of judges will be revealed in the end of the mapping competition.
I will try my best to make sure that the judges are diverse.
Can't wait to see what you guys come up with, good luck!
