10 years MX - BASCO2021

Welcome to the TrackmaniaExchange BASCO 2021, where BASCO stands for "Build A Stage COmpetition". This is the 10th official BASCO, but the 1st in TM2020.

This mapping competition will replace the Monthly Track Contest (MTC) for August and September 2021.

  • What is BASCO?
The BASCO is separated into 9 stages:
    - Route (7 Stages)
    - Scenery (1 Stage)
    - Mediatracker/Screenshot (1 Stage).

Each stage consists of a few days of building and a few days of judging.
For Stage 1 you start a new route.
For Stage 2 onwards you continue on the part that won the previous stage.
For every stage, you fight against your competitors to make the best part, which is then used by the builders of the next stage.

  • Timetable
    List of all deadlines
Deadline is 22:00 CEST for each stage.

  • CURRENT STATE OF BASCO
Currently on building Stage 9, deadline is Saturday October 2nd 2021 22:00.

  • Prize
    • :gold: Honour and the right to brag!
    • :gold: The winner of each stage wins a front page feature of a map of their choice!
    • :gold: 10 € for each winning section, except for stage 9 (winners must be 18 years or older)

  • Rules

    • Only one map per stage per mapper.
    • Duo mapping is allowed but the two mappers if they win cannot participate in other route stages
    • Updating your map after deadline isn't allowed
    • Royal editor is not allowed
    • The map can contain items. Each route stage is allotted a maximum of 400 KBs. Scenery stage can use whatever is left, up until the 4 MB embed limit.
    • Your part must have a maximum length of 10 seconds and a temporary finish (unless you’re building stage 7, where you build the actual finish).
    • Don’t build any scenery while building the route, as there will be a scenery stage.
    • Only build blocks you actually drive on (including respawn route, if necessary).
    • Minimal signs can be used during route stages, but may be replaced during the scenery stage.
    • Blockmixing is allowed (just be sure to check blockmixed parts again if you move the track with the macroblock tool).
    • Map height and position of previous stages can be moved.
    • Pillars/TrackWalls can be changed as well if needed.
    • You are allowed to create custom cams on your part
    • You cannot change anything from previous stages (apart the Pillars/TrackWalls)
    • Please center the thumbnail of the track on your part, to make it easier to identify parts in the judging form later on.
    • Validate and save the Map as S#-YourAuthorName (S#= Stage #, so replace # with the current stage number) and upload it to the mappack for Stage 9 for this BASCO.
    • If you won a route stage already, you're not allowed to participate in another route stage. We want as many builders as possible in one map. Scenery and MT stages are not included in this rule. ;)
    • Simple editor is allowed for at least Stage 1 (and possibly more if a Simple editor part happened to win Stage 1)

    • Rules for scenery stage

        Allowed:
      • Add scenery and signs throughout the map.
      • Block changes, as long as geometry and surfaces of the driving part is kept.
      • Adding, removing, and moving checkpoint locations.
      • Adding respawn-ways, if they don’t change the layout much.
      • Changing map bases and moving the location of the map.
      • Small edits on the layout of previous parts (e.g. adding/removing pillars)
      • Changing colors of the blocks.
      • Adding lighting.
      • Changing time of day (mood).
      • Use only TMX (or other neutral signs). No team signs.
      Rules for MediaTracker stage

      • You must create an "Intro" and "End race" MT
      • "Ambience" MT was already added during Scenery stage. Do not modify it.
      • "Intro" must be 20 seconds or less (maximum time for online intros)
      • "Intro" should introduce the map and the mappers, including the scenery and MediaTracker builders (there are signs in the map for each, including a placeholder sign for MediaTracker stage winner)
      • Take into consideration static respawn positions when making the "End race" MT.
      • There is a designated location for the GPS. Prepare the MT for it. The ghost will be provided by shorty when its ready. Some overlaid text indicating that shorty is the driver should be present.
      • Stage 9 participants must also submit a screenshot of the map that will be used on the final track page. It should contain text featuring the track name "BASCO 2021", and a list of the builders, including Scenery, and MT makers.

    • Judging
    • Judges for this BASCO are from the TMX crew.
    • Each judge will choose their top 10. Points are then assigned based on individual rankings. And the part with the most total points wins the stage.
    • The combined top10 from all judges will be revealed after each stage.

Good luck and have fun! If you have any questions, please ask. A discord channel has been created for that. (y)
